  • The Story

Thérèse Frère is a woman with a passion for art.  Widowed at forty-two, she dedicated her life to raising six children. It was not until 1974 that she was able to concentrate her efforts on her chosen career. She enrolled in the Ottawa School of Art, and in 1981 attended the Banff School of Fine Arts.

Since her first visit to Newfoundland in 2000 she has fallen in love with the rugged coastlines and has not wanted to work anywhere else. Newfoundland and Labrador is a land of breathtaking land and seascapes, a place of magical, mystical natural beauty, a wild and wonderful land that’s rich with history, has a unique culture, and is inhabited by people world renowned for their hospitality.

Thérèse makes a point of setting up her easel and work on location so that she loses nothing of the freshness of a scene, so that she can catch what she calls “the spirit of the place”. Her goal is to preserve what she sees for others to enjoy, capturing the beauty and history of a place.

This piece is available as a Giclée print. Measurements are approximate and include white space. The artwork is sold unframed and shipped in a protective poster tube.
