Goodee – The Ethical Design Shop

Find exclusive products and selections from our current and future collections here.

After founding the acclaimed brand WANT Les Essentiels, designers and entrepreneurs Byron and Dexter Peart embarked on a new mission: to launch and develop meaningful brands that offer sustainable solutions for modern living.

In 2017, they decided to work exclusively with artisans and products that make a positive social or environmental impact. Five years later, Goodee leads the way in curating a marketplace that brings together the values of good design, good people, and good purpose.

Christopher Farr Cloth

A selection of the iconic wallpapers that line the walls of the Fogo Island Inn are now available through our Partnership with Christopher Farr Cloth. Since its founding in 1988, Christopher Farr has set out to bring together the creative vision of contemporary artists and designers with centuries-old weaving traditions from around the world. Using ethical production in England they create the finest quality papers and textiles and like us, have a deep appreciation for maintaining the knowledge of the past and giving it new life in new forms.

The Fogo Island Collection is available to retail clients through Fogo Island Workshops alongside their global distribution network including design trade-focused partners Kravet in Canada and Holland & Sherry in the USA. Those in London can see the collection at their flagship showroom in Chelsea.

S.U.F. Hall

The S.U.F. Hall was built in 1909, in the community of Barr’d Islands, as the home of a fraternal organization called the Society of United Fisherman. The organization provided fellowship and established a mutual support system for its members at a time when there were few services available for fishermen and their families.

The hall exemplified a true community space over the years as it hosted weddings, dances, concerts, church services, and even an arcade. In 2016, Shorefast completed an extensive transformation of both the interior and exterior of the S.U.F. Hall.

Now, the hall serves as a reflection to Fogo Island’s continuing adaptation to modernity. The hall is home to the woodshop of Fogo Island Workshops, where you can find our production team.

Front Room at Fogo Island Inn

In outport Newfoundland, the front room or parlour, was often a room used only for entertaining important guests. It was where a family’s finest collection of décor would be on display.

The second floor of Fogo Island Inn – outside the Gathering Hall and Cinema – is where we showcase our fine goods. Guests of Fogo Island Inn will meet makers, learn about the design and making experiences we offer, and take a design-focused tour of the Inn. They will also be able to take advantage of purchasing the design they are immersed in.

Talk to your Community Host team at Fogo Island Inn for details.
